Business History and Information

Industrias Venturello was created in 1961. In the previous decade, Inravision, the official national television broadcaster began its transmission of television signal in the Colombian territory. There was a massive importation of television but not of antennas. The ones built on garages and backyard where crude copies of imported models, and they had no concern for the fact that every channel received has a specific frequency and needs a specific antenna design to work with it. The foreign models, besides being very expensive and hard to find, did not always work well as they where not designed for the task.

The bad reception of the channel on the different zones of the country said a lot about the necessity to design exclusive models for every channel, thus being able to give the viewer, the consumer, a quality picture in his television. Identifying the demand for technically design antennas, the founder of the company, Miguel Venturello, who was at the time (and continues to be) an Amateur Radio operator, began the construction of antennas using his knowledge. The results where good, and he began selling them in his neighborhood.

With the arrival of a second channel and shortly thereafter Color TV, the potential demand for this product increased giving the founder a chance to increase his productive capacity and began an industrialized production. The company began distributing first in Cali and then establishing its actual net of more than 400 nationwide point of sale. Being the channel selections different in every region, the company launched many models and began recommending it's clients antennas done for their specific needs.

With time, and the arrival of some competitors, Industrias Venturello positioned itself as the traditional manufacturer with the best quality, a product that always worked, lasted long and was optimally designed. It became a brand name recognized with antennas in the country, and, albeit being the most expensive, it was the most sold.

In the 80's and the beginning of the 90's, the appearance of several regional channels and the private transmission companies, both allocated in the previously unused band of UHF, opened a new market for the company, because there where no antennas in the country to cover this band. As before, it developed a whole range of products to give a chance to better serve its customers. The company modernized its machinery in this period, bought its first numeric control machine and serialized its production line.

With a complete machine shop, Industrias Venturello develops all its designs in-house. It produces the complete product, including the plastic injection of parts, the rivets and the tubing. The machine shop gives the company flexibility, as the development of new features, new products is fast and kept in control. Quality is also helped as all the machinery is kept in perfect condition by skilled mechanics.

In the 90's, the Yagi antennas of old are slowly phased out in favor of the more complex logarithmic, or log periodic, antennas, which give a better performance in a wider range of channels. They are more expensive, but this pushes the company to do several production improvements which keep the prices down.

With the nationwide introduction of the important RCN and Caracol private channels, owned by the biggest media companies in the country, Industrias Venturello was the official antenna chosen by the Caracol-RCN consortium for the reception of their channels. They weighted the decision wisely, since the quality of their channels on the television of their clients depended on the antenna. Antennas Venturello, due to its quality, tradition and technical know how, was chosen as the best alternative. The company had the production expertise to increment its production rate tenfold in the same space as before.

In the last years the antenna of choice has been the MultiChannel, the one chosen by Caracol and RCN, is a multifunction antenna that can receive all the channels, VHF and UHF, with good gain on all the range. Before, it was necessary to buy and install two separate antennas. With the birth of important regional channels, like CityTV in Bogotá, and the presence of RCN and Caracol, the customer needed an antenna that covered all their reception needs.

In the moment Industrias Venturello continues to  introduce new technologies, like the five year old 'parabolic' reflector antennas, the double elements UHF antennas, with very high gain, and new MultiChannel combined designs.

Also, in the last years, we have continue to create niche products, as interior antennas, wall mounted antennas, FM radio station antennas and cellular phone antennas.

The company has experience in export operations and logistics. It has realized considerable volume trading with Venezuela, Panama, Ecuador and Peru. Also, many of its machinery is imported from the U.S.A and Asia. Its productive capacity is very high and very flexible, it can respond to large orders and deliver them rapidly. It is the only antenna company in the country to have a numeric control tube roller, to make its own rivets and screws and to have a complete machine shop on ground. It is the only one to use a chemical process to give the antennas a golden finish, which is an important factor to differentiate our product from our competitors.

Our commitment to quality is complete. For a small company, we try to do everything to the top standards worldwide, not to the local standards. As an example, we use black plastic polystyrene, not mixed with recovered plastic, and add an Ultra Violet filter so the plastic pieces will last longer under the sun. The thickness of the tubing in our element is thicker than the leading American brand. We guarantee every product we make and will exchange them on any imperfection. The antennas come complete with all the mounting brackets, cable contacts and accessories you would need, plus an installation manual.

Industrias Venturello is very modern on the administrative side. All the offices are wired and the computer network reaches every desk. Everything is done by software, from accounting to payroll to inventory management to order management and materials resource planning. The company rolled out thisinternet site on January, 2000, but its employees have been using email as their communication tool with international customers and providers for at least 3 years. The company also has a network of 5 sales representatives covering the different regions of the country.
